Future Plans!

Howdy Y'all!

Wanted to outline a few future plans for you to be watchin' for! We got us a tractor and will be working on it in the next week or two, weather permitting! Once we get it all in good shape, we have lots of plans ahead!

Our plans for the tractor are to dredge out the stock pond a little deeper and wider so we can stock it with fish. Then, we want to build a Mud Bog...that's where country folk take their 4wheel drives into the mud! LOADS of fun! And of course, to build the arena so we can have Jessie's students who want to advance to that level, be able to learn barrels, pole bending, flags and rescue relay races.

We'll be doing some work around here so the first things will be if y'all have some young men or ladies who'd like to come on out for "Work Days"

Work Days will consist of those wanting to learn ranch work, learn to put up fence, horse stalls, outbuildings,  run a tractor, etc. This is a good way for those young men to expend a little energy and enjoy the outdoors! Ladies can work on outside with us in the Garden or with the small livestock like rabbits & chickens. We ladies might even do some from scratch cooking or canning. Now...we never say that the gentleman can't cook or the ladies can't partake in men's work outside if they're willing and able. I mean, back in the 1800's many a man was a chuck wagon cook and many a lady had to run her own ranch while her menfolk were gone. There weren't nooo gender problems because everyone carried the work load they had to!

Jessie will be building a rabbit hutch soon and then, she'll be making an herb garden as many herbs are good to cure bunnies of whatever ails them. So stay tuned for that...she may hold a free class for all who might be interested in learning and helping. She'll be setting this all up in the "coolie" which is an old timey way of saying a small wooded area near water ...I couldn't even find the definition for y'all online! But when I grew up...that is what everyone called it. Y'all will be experiencing a lot of old fashioned words that had great meaning in the 1800's!

Also, be on the lookout for news about Horse Camps or Cowboy Camps...these will be a lot of fun as well...but there will be a fee for those.

May Y'all be Blessed!

Silver Spur Saturday was a hit!

Howdy!

We had a great time on Silver Spur Saturday! Simply amazed at how many people made it out because we did this just spur (LOL) of the moment! Had some great food and great friendship. Kids got to run and play, pet the rabbits and horses and collect eggs from the henhouse! Sweet Suzie, our Baldy calf was romping and playin  with excitement. Kids also got to roast their first marshmallows around the camp fire pit. People brought some instruments so there was singing around the campfire! It was a bit breezy to light the BIG bonfire so we stuck close up near the Bunkhouse and enjoyed the fire pit instead. Once we get a little moisture and less wind...we'll be cranking up the big bonfire again!

A few Dads and their sons got to shoot guns for the first time out at the firing range! Our horses are just a bit frisky when firing repeatedly like that because there's a whole lotta shootin' goin' on but most have been ridden and shot from off their backs so they're not scared, just a little frisky because they usually associate it with fun times! So we just watch and make sure no little ones get in the pens at that time.

I want to thank all y'all for comin on out and having a good time with us on Silver Spur Saturday! We'll be having these more often as the weather gets a bit better so hope y'all will come on out!
